Report to Uber
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report Uber phishing and account takeover through the Help Center
Uber handles reports in its Help Center rather than by email. The scam it warns about most is a caller asking for the verification code Uber just sent you. That code is the account. Anyone asking for it is taking it.
What they handle
- Texts and emails claiming to be Uber
- Callers asking for a verification code or password
- Fake Uber login pages
- Accounts someone else has logged into
How to file a report
- 1
End the contact, then report it yourself
If a visit, call, text or email asks for a verification code, password or banking details, end it. Then go to the Help Center and check whether the contact was genuine.
- 2
Report a compromised account
If you see activity you do not recognise, or think someone else has signed in, go to the Help Center. Pick the option matching your situation and contact support.
- 3
Check the link before you click
A message pointing you anywhere other than https://www.uber.com is not Uber. Type the address yourself and check for the lock symbol.
- 4
Never share the one-time code
Uber is explicit that sharing an OTP with someone claiming to be an employee gives a scammer your account. No real employee needs it.
What you'll need
- The number or address that contacted you
- The date and time of the trip or charge in question
- Screenshots of the message
What to expect
Support can secure an account and review unrecognised charges. A payment made to a scammer outside Uber is a matter for your bank.
Frequently asked questions
Uber support called me and asked for the code they just sent. Is that normal?
No, and it is the most common Uber scam. The code was sent because the caller is trying to log in as you. Giving it to them completes the takeover.
