Jacana for Claude

Ask Claude if it's a scam, and get Jacana's answer.

Jacana Scam Protection is a connector for Claude. Paste a suspicious message or name a website, and Claude checks it with Jacana: you get a verdict, the red flags, and what to do next, without leaving the chat. It is free, and you don't need a Jacana account.

What it does

The connector gives Claude two tools:

  • Analyze Scam checks a message, email, text, post or a description of what happened. When the message has a link, Jacana opens the linked page too.
  • Check Entity checks a website before you log in, pay or download. Jacana looks for reports of it and, if it has none, checks the site live.

Each answer comes with a link that opens the result on Jacana Scam Check, where you can keep going and get a step-by-step recovery plan. Neither tool changes anything in your accounts.

Check a suspicious text

I got this text: 'USPS: Your package is on hold because of an unpaid $1.99 redelivery fee. Pay now at usps-redelivery-fee.com' — is this a scam?

A good answer has:

  • Claude asks Jacana to analyze the message. Because it has a link, Jacana also tries to open the site, so the answer can take up to 30 seconds.
  • Jacana's verdict (scam, suspicious or likely safe) with a one-line headline.
  • The red flags Jacana found, such as a small fee demanded by text and a payment site that is not usps.com.
  • What to do next, such as not paying or tapping the link, and how to report the text.
  • A note if Jacana could not load the site, saying the verdict came from the message alone.
  • A "Personalized help from Jacana" link that opens this result on Jacana Scam Check.

Check a website before you use it

Is paypal-secure-verify.com safe to log into?

A good answer has:

  • Claude asks Jacana to check the website. If Jacana has no reports of it, Jacana checks the site live, which can take a few seconds.
  • Jacana's verdict on the site, with the red flags it found, such as a name that copies PayPal on a domain PayPal does not use.
  • Advice to go to the real site by typing its address yourself, rather than logging in here.
  • If the site was not in Jacana's reports, a reminder that that is not a sign it is safe.
  • A "Personalized help from Jacana" link, and a "Full report" link when Jacana has reviewed the site.

Get next steps after a scam attempt

A buyer on Facebook Marketplace says I have to upgrade to a Zelle business account before they can pay me. Is this a scam, and what should I do?

A good answer has:

  • Claude asks Jacana to analyze what happened. There is no link to open, so the answer comes back quickly.
  • Jacana's verdict and the type of scam it looks like.
  • The red flags in the story, such as being asked to pay or upgrade before you can receive money.
  • What to do now: stop replying, do not send money, and report the buyer on Facebook Marketplace.
  • A "Personalized help from Jacana" link where you can carry on, and get a recovery plan if you already paid.

Good to know

  • Claude decides when to call Jacana. If it answers on its own, ask it to check with Jacana.
  • Jacana's verdict is a second opinion, not a guarantee. If something feels wrong, don't pay, don't share codes or passwords, and contact the company through a number or website you already trust.
  • Live checks of links and websites are limited each day. When Jacana can't check a site live, it says so, and its verdict comes from the message or the address alone.

Privacy

The connector is anonymous: Jacana gets the text Claude sends to its tools, not your Claude account or your chat history. What we keep, for how long and who we share it with is in the AI assistant apps privacy notice.
