Report to UnitedHealthcare
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report health care fraud anonymously on the UnitedHealthcare hotline
UnitedHealthcare takes fraud reports anonymously, and the confidentiality is the part worth knowing. Even if you give your name, the provider you report is not told it was you.
What they handle
- Providers billing for care you never received
- Callers asking for your member ID or Medicare number
- Fake plans and enrolment offers
- Equipment and test kits you never ordered
How to file a report
- 1
Call the fraud hotline
UnitedHealthcare gives 1-844-359-7736. You can say you would like to make an anonymous report.
- 2
Or report online
The online route hands you to NAVEX, the company that handles fraud and abuse tips for UnitedHealthcare.
- 3
Or start from your member ID card
Call the customer service number on the back of the card and a representative connects you to the fraud hotline.
- 4
Use Medicare or HHS if you prefer
You can report to 1-800-MEDICARE, which is 1-800-633-4227 and staffed around the clock, or the HHS Office of Inspector General on 1-800-447-8477.
What you'll need
- Your member ID number
- The dates and services on the statement in question
- The provider name and any claim number
What to expect
Anything you give about yourself stays confidential, and the provider does not learn you reported them. That matters most when it is a provider you still have to see.
Frequently asked questions
Will my doctor find out I reported a billing problem?
No. UnitedHealthcare states that information you provide about yourself stays confidential. The provider would not know you reported them even if you gave your name.
