Report to Telegram
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report Telegram spam and scams from the message, and impersonation to @NoToScam
Telegram reporting is a gesture on the message itself, and it differs by platform. Impersonation is handled separately, through a Telegram account rather than a form.
What they handle
- Investment and crypto pitches sent by strangers
- Romance and long-con approaches
- Fake job offers and task scams
- Accounts impersonating you
How to file a report
- 1
Report the message
Tap the message on Android, hold it on iOS, or right-click it on Desktop and Web, then select Report. Every Telegram app supports it.
- 2
Report an impersonator to @NoToScam
If someone is pretending to be you, Telegram asks you to contact @NoToScam rather than using the in-chat report.
- 3
Use Report spam in the chat
The Report spam button forwards the messages to Telegram's moderators for review. An account they agree about becomes limited temporarily.
- 4
Appeal a wrongful limit to @SpamBot
If a limit lands on your own account and you think it is wrong, @SpamBot is the route to contest it.
What you'll need
- The username or phone number of the account
- The messages themselves, before you delete the chat
- Any wallet address or payment details you sent to
What to expect
Moderators review reports and can limit the account. Telegram does not hold funds and cannot reverse a payment, so crypto sent from a Telegram conversation is gone.
Frequently asked questions
A stranger messaged me about a crypto opportunity. Is that always a scam?
Treat it as one. Unsolicited investment approaches on Telegram are the single most common pattern there, and the platform has no way to get your money back.

Knowing which scam you were hit by makes the report better. This is how scams impersonating Telegram actually work, what the company will never ask you for, and the warning signs to recognise next time.
