Report to T-Mobile
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report T-Mobile phishing and scam texts, and dispute a fraudulent account
T-Mobile handles most scam reporting through the 7726 short code, which every US carrier shares. Accounts opened in someone else's name go through a separate dispute form, and that form is open to people who are not T-Mobile customers.
What they handle
- Scam and spam texts sent to a T-Mobile number
- Emails and calls using the T-Mobile name
- T-Mobile accounts opened fraudulently in your name
- Scam and robocall traffic, through Scam ID and Scam Block
How to file a report
- 1
Forward the text to 7726
Copy the message and forward it to 7726, which spells SPAM. This is how the carrier records and blocks the sender. It works whether or not the message claimed to be from T-Mobile.
- 2
Use the fraud dispute form for an account you did not open
T-Mobile runs a dispute form at customerhelp.t-mobile.com for fraudulent accounts. You do not have to be a T-Mobile customer to use it, which matters because identity theft usually means you are not one.
- 3
Turn on the free call protection
Scam ID labels suspected scam calls as "Scam Likely" and Scam Block stops them reaching you. Both are free and off by default for some plans, so check rather than assume.
- 4
Report it to the FTC as well
T-Mobile points customers to ReportFraud.ftc.gov. The carrier can block a sender, but only the FTC builds the record that leads anywhere.
What you'll need
- The number the message came from
- The message itself, forwarded rather than retyped
- Proof of identity, if you are disputing an account opened in your name
What to expect
Forwarding to 7726 gets no reply. It feeds carrier blocking rather than opening a case. A fraud dispute does get worked, and is the route that removes a fraudulent account from your credit file.
Frequently asked questions
Does forwarding to 7726 cost anything?
No. 7726 is free on the major US carriers and the message does not count against your plan. It is the same code on Verizon and AT&T, so the habit carries over.
