Report to McAfee
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report fake McAfee renewal emails to scam@mcafee.com
The McAfee scam is a subscription that has supposedly expired and must be renewed by a date. McAfee documents these campaigns itself, including ones that send you to a real PayPal page so the payment looks legitimate. Reports go to scam@mcafee.com.
What they handle
- Fake McAfee renewal and expiry emails
- Fake McAfee customer service websites
- Pop-ups claiming a McAfee subscription has lapsed
- Invoices for McAfee products you never bought
How to file a report
- 1
Send the email to scam@mcafee.com
That is the address McAfee gives for fraudulent email using its brand. There is also a phone route on 1-866-622-3911.
- 2
Check the subscription through McAfee directly
Before paying an unexpected invoice, contact the vendor through its official channels and ask what the bill is for. Your real McAfee subscription status is in your McAfee account, never in an email.
- 3
Give it a day if it feels urgent
McAfee suggests a 24-hour rule for urgent financial requests by email. Urgency is the pressure the scam depends on, so waiting costs nothing real.
- 4
File with the FTC if you paid
McAfee points people to ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Do that after you have called your bank, which is the step that can still stop the money.
What you'll need
- The email itself, with headers where you can get them
- The payment page or PayPal recipient, if you got that far
- The amount and date of anything you paid
What to expect
scam@mcafee.com is intake, not support, and does not resolve a payment. McAfee can act on the sender and the fake site. Money already gone is your bank's job.
Frequently asked questions
The payment page was really PayPal. Does that mean it was genuine?
No. McAfee has documented campaigns that link to real PayPal pages. A real payment processor does not make the seller real, it just means the money moves cleanly.
