Report to Lyft
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report Lyft fraud to Support, and the rule that identifies a fake Lyft contact
Lyft gives a rule that settles most of these on the spot. It does not contact you by phone, text or email asking for personal information unless you got in touch first. So an unprompted request is never Lyft.
What they handle
- Fraudulent activity on a Lyft account
- Phishing by phone, text or email using the Lyft name
- Charges for rides you did not take
- Drivers and riders behaving unsafely
How to file a report
- 1
Contact Lyft Support
Fraudulent activity on your account goes to the Support team. Reach it through the app or help.lyft.com rather than a number from a message.
- 2
Dispute the ride charge in the app
Lyft lets you dispute a ride charge instantly, and report anything about the ride or the driver at the same time.
- 3
Ignore unprompted requests for information
Lyft says it will not contact you asking for personal information unless you reached out first. If you suspect a phishing attempt, ignore the conversation.
- 4
Call 911 for a safety emergency
If an incident threatens your personal safety, Lyft directs you to the authorities first, on 911 or your local non-emergency line.
What you'll need
- The date and time of the ride
- The driver or rider name shown in the app
- The number or address that contacted you
What to expect
Support handles account fraud and ride disputes. security@lyft.com exists for information security questions that are not fraud. It is the wrong place for a scam.
Frequently asked questions
Lyft called about a problem with my account. Was it them?
Only if you contacted them first. Lyft states it does not call, text or email asking for personal information otherwise. Hang up and open the app.
