Report to GoFundMe
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report a fundraiser from its own page, and request a refund the same way
Every GoFundMe fundraiser carries a report button, and it does two jobs. It alerts the Trust and Safety team, and it is also how a donor requests a refund. GoFundMe does not tell the organizer who reported them.
What they handle
- Fundraisers misusing donations or breaking the terms of service
- Fundraisers set up in your name without your knowledge
- Fake fundraisers after a disaster or a news event
- Suspicious emails using the GoFundMe name
How to file a report
- 1
Use the report fundraiser button
It is on every fundraiser page. Anyone can use it to raise a concern about misuse or a terms of service violation.
- 2
Use the same button to ask for a refund
GoFundMe tells donors to use report fundraiser to request their money back, rather than contacting the organizer.
- 3
Report a fundraiser created in your name
GoFundMe keeps a separate route for a fundraiser someone set up claiming to represent you or a family member.
- 4
Send account security concerns to the security address
Suspicious activity on your own GoFundMe account goes to accountsecurity@gofundme.com, or through Contact Us.
What you'll need
- The fundraiser URL
- Your donation receipt or transaction ID
- Anything showing the claim is false
What to expect
Trust and Safety reviews every report promptly and may ask for more evidence. Outcomes range from pausing donations and holding transfers to banning the account and referring it to law enforcement. Your name is not shared with the organizer.
Frequently asked questions
Will the organizer know it was me who reported them?
No. GoFundMe says it does not share the reporter's name with the organizer or beneficiary, unless compelled by law or where someone's safety is at risk.
