Report to Expedia
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report Expedia fraud through the Help Center, after screenshotting everything
Travel scams run on urgency, and Expedia names the exact wording: your flight is cancelled, your points are expiring, immediate action required. Before you report, screenshot everything. The numbers and addresses disappear quickly.
What they handle
- Fake emails about a booking, cancellation or expiring points
- Smishing texts and messaging-app approaches
- Fake Expedia phone numbers and support lines
- Gift card demands for a booking
How to file a report
- 1
Document it before you do anything else
Take screenshots, and save the phone numbers and email addresses used. Expedia asks for this first, because it is what a report is built from.
- 2
Report through official channels
Use the Help Center on the Expedia website, the app, or Expedia's social channels. Customer service runs 24 hours.
- 3
Go to your trip through the app, not the message
Expedia has self-service tools for changing and cancelling trips. Using them means never following a link from an email claiming your flight is cancelled.
- 4
Remember what Expedia never asks for
It will never ask for your password, a one-time passcode, or a wire transfer.
What you'll need
- The itinerary or booking number
- Screenshots of the message
- The phone number or email used
What to expect
Expedia can act on a fake site or number and confirm what your real booking says. Money sent by wire or gift card is the hardest to recover, so call your bank first.
Frequently asked questions
I got a text saying my flight was cancelled. How do I check?
Open the Expedia app or type expedia.com yourself and look at the trip. A real cancellation is there. The text exists to get you calling its number instead.
