Report to Etsy
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Send Etsy phishing to ReportPhishing@etsy.com and report items in the listing
Etsy gives you one thing that settles most cases instantly. A genuine Etsy message appears in your From Etsy inbox on Etsy.com with a "From Etsy" badge under the subject line. Anything without it did not come from Etsy.
What they handle
- Phishing emails and texts using the Etsy name
- Messages from people claiming to be Etsy staff
- Listings and shops that break Etsy policy
- Suspected fraud on your own Etsy account
How to file a report
- 1
Forward phishing to ReportPhishing@etsy.com
Send the email, or a screenshot of a suspicious text, to that address. Etsy says agents do not monitor it, so you will not get a reply.
- 2
Report the item or the shop
Use "Report this item to Etsy" at the bottom of a listing. To flag a whole shop, use "Report this shop to Etsy" on the left of its homepage.
- 3
Report the message, do not answer it
A suspicious message can be reported from the message itself. Etsy advises against engaging with it for any reason.
- 4
Check for the From Etsy badge
Real Etsy messages carry it. Etsy also never asks for your password, phone number or mailing address through Messages.
What you'll need
- The shop name or listing URL
- The message, or a screenshot of the text
- Your order number, if a purchase is involved
What to expect
The phishing mailbox gives no reply by design. Item and shop reports are reviewed. A purchase that went wrong is a case for Etsy support and your card issuer.
Frequently asked questions
Someone messaged saying they were Etsy staff. How do I check?
Open Etsy.com and look in your From Etsy inbox. A real message from Etsy is there with a From Etsy badge. If it is not, the person is not Etsy.
