Report to Chase
Last updated September 18, 2026
The short answer
Report card and account fraud, and forward Chase-branded phishing
Chase runs a different fraud line for each kind of account. Calling the right one first is the difference between a claim opened today and a transfer to another department. If money has already moved, call rather than email. The phishing address is for reporting the message, not for an urgent claim.
What they handle
- Unauthorized charges and transfers on Chase accounts
- Debit and credit card fraud, including a card used after it was lost
- Emails, texts and calls impersonating Chase
- Zelle payments sent from a Chase account
- Account takeover: passwords, phone numbers or addresses changed without you
How to file a report
- 1
Call the fraud line for that account
Personal checking, savings or debit: 1-800-935-9935, option 8. That line runs Mon to Fri 8am to midnight ET and Sat to Sun 9am to 6pm ET, or 1-713-262-3300 from outside the US. Personal credit card: 1-800-955-9060, option 2. Business checking or savings: 1-866-564-2262. Business credit card: 1-800-704-0285.
- 2
Or flag the transaction in the Chase app
For a charge you do not recognise, open the transaction in the Chase Mobile app and choose "What doesn't look right". That starts a dispute without waiting on hold. Use the phone line instead if the whole account looks compromised.
- 3
Forward the phishing message
Forward a suspicious Chase-branded email to phishing@chase.com, then delete it. Chase asks you to forward the message rather than reply to it. That address is not a way to report money already lost.
- 4
File with the FTC and IC3 as well
Chase itself directs customers to the US Federal Trade Commission and the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center afterwards. The bank handles your money. Those two build the case against the scammer.
What you'll need
- The last four digits of the account or card
- The date, amount and merchant or recipient of each transaction
- The original message, forwarded rather than screenshotted where possible
- Any phone number you were called from or told to call
What to expect
Chase opens a claim on the call, and usually issues a new card number where a card is involved. Disputed card charges are normally credited provisionally while the claim is investigated. A transfer you authorised yourself, such as a Zelle payment to a scammer, is a harder case. Chase makes no guarantee of recovery on those.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Chase phishing address abuse@chase.com?
No. Chase's own fraud page gives phishing@chase.com. Its wording: "If you think you've received a suspicious email that claims to be from Chase, you can forward it to phishing@chase.com."
I sent a Zelle payment to a scammer from my Chase account. Who do I call?
Chase, on the personal checking fraud line, 1-800-935-9935, option 8. Zelle sits inside your banking app. Zelle itself never holds your money and cannot move it back, so only the bank can attempt a recall.
