Report to Cash App

Last updated September 18, 2026

The short answer

Report a Cash App scam in the app, and the one real support number

Cash App has one support phone number, and fake Cash App support numbers are themselves a common scam. Reporting starts inside the app, on the transaction. There is a deadline on peer-to-peer disputes that catches people who wait.

What they handle

  • Payments sent to someone who turned out to be a scammer
  • Unauthorized activity on your Cash App account
  • Disputed Cash App Card purchases
  • People impersonating Cash App support

How to file a report

  1. 1

Report the transaction in the app

Open your profile in Cash App, find the payment, and report it from there. That is the route Cash App points to for money sent to a scammer, and it reaches support with the transaction attached.

  2. 2

Or call the only real support number

Cash App Support is 1 (800) 969-1940, daily 8am to 9:30pm ET. Cash App states this is the only phone number customers can call. Any other number offering Cash App support is a scam.

  3. 3

    Dispute within the window

A peer-to-peer payment should be disputed within 60 days of the monthly statement it appears on. Cash App Card transactions can be disputed by phone on the same number.

  4. 4

Never hand over your login details

Cash App representatives never ask for your password, PIN, full card number or sign-in code. Anyone who does is not Cash App, whatever the caller ID says.

What you'll need

  • The $Cashtag or phone number you paid
  • The date and amount of the payment
  • Screenshots of the conversation that led to it

What to expect

An unauthorized payment is the stronger case. A payment you sent yourself has no buyer protection behind it, so recovery depends on the recipient still holding the funds. Report it the same day where you can.

Frequently asked questions

I found a Cash App support number online. Is it safe to call?

Only 1 (800) 969-1940 is real. Fake support numbers are placed where people search during a panic, and the person answering will ask for your PIN or sign-in code. Cash App never does.
