Report to Apple

Last updated March 17, 2026

The short answer

Report phishing emails, request App Store and iTunes refunds, and report fraudulent calls claiming to be Apple

Apple provides several ways to report scams that use their name or services. You can report phishing emails to reportphishing@apple.com, request refunds for fraudulent App Store or iTunes charges at reportaproblem.apple.com, and report suspicious calls from people pretending to be Apple Support.

What they handle

  • Phishing emails, texts, and calls pretending to be from Apple
  • Fraudulent charges on your Apple ID or App Store account
  • Scam apps in the App Store
  • iCloud and Apple ID account compromise
  • Fake Apple Support calls asking for remote access or payment
  • Gift card scams where someone asked you to pay with Apple Gift Cards

How to file a report

  1. 1

    Report phishing emails

Forward the suspicious email to reportphishing@apple.com. For suspicious iMessages, tap "Report Junk" under the message.

  2. 2

Request a refund for fraudulent charges

Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the charge, and select "Report a Problem." Follow the prompts to request a refund.

  3. 3

    Report a scam app

On the app's page in the App Store, scroll down and tap "Report a Problem." Choose the reason that best describes the issue.

  4. 4

    Contact Apple Support directly

For account compromise or if you gave a scammer access to your device, go to support.apple.com or call Apple Support at 1-800-275-2273 right away.

What you'll need

  • The suspicious email, text, or call details (phone number, what they said)
  • Your Apple ID email address
  • Transaction IDs for disputed charges (found in your purchase history)
  • Screenshots of the phishing message or scam app listing

What to expect

For refund requests, Apple typically responds within 48 hours. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method. For phishing reports, Apple uses them to block scam domains and phone numbers. If your account was compromised, Apple Support can help you regain access and secure it, but you should also change your password and enable two-factor authentication immediately.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if an email from Apple is real?

Apple will never ask you for your password, Social Security number, or full credit card number by email. Check the sender's email address carefully. Official Apple emails come from addresses ending in @apple.com. When in doubt, go directly to appleid.apple.com instead of clicking any links.

Can I get a refund if someone made purchases on my Apple ID?

Yes. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, find the unauthorized charges, and request a refund. Also change your Apple ID password immediately and enable two-factor authentication to prevent further unauthorized access.

What should I do if I gave a fake Apple Support caller remote access to my device?

Disconnect from the internet immediately, change your Apple ID password on a different device, enable two-factor authentication, and contact Apple Support at 1-800-275-2273. Check your bank and credit card statements for unauthorized charges. Consider running a malware scan on your device.
