Report to Amazon

Last updated March 17, 2026

The short answer

Report fraudulent sellers, request A-to-Z Guarantee refunds, and forward phishing emails pretending to be Amazon

Amazon has several ways to handle fraud and scams on its platform. If a third-party seller scammed you, you can request an A-to-Z Guarantee refund. If you received a suspicious email that claims to be from Amazon, forward it to stop-spoofing@amazon.com. Amazon takes seller fraud seriously and will investigate reports.

What they handle

  • Third-party sellers who never shipped your order
  • Items that arrived damaged, defective, or completely different from the listing
  • Fake product listings and counterfeit goods
  • Phishing emails and texts pretending to be from Amazon
  • Unauthorized purchases on your Amazon account
  • Suspicious seller behavior or listing manipulation

How to file a report

  1. 1

    Go to Your Orders

Log in to your Amazon account and go to "Your Orders." Find the order in question.

  2. 2

    Select "Problem with order"

Click on the order and choose the option that matches your issue, like "Item not received" or "Item different from description."

  3. 3

Request a refund or file an A-to-Z Guarantee claim

If the seller doesn't resolve the issue within 48 hours, you can file an A-to-Z Guarantee claim. Amazon will review the case and may issue a refund.

  4. 4

    Report phishing emails separately

If you received a suspicious email claiming to be Amazon, forward it to stop-spoofing@amazon.com. Don't click any links in the email.

What you'll need

  • Your Amazon order number
  • Screenshots of the product listing and what you actually received
  • Messages exchanged with the seller
  • Photos of damaged or incorrect items
  • The suspicious email (for phishing reports)

What to expect

For A-to-Z Guarantee claims, Amazon typically responds within one to two weeks. If the claim is approved, you'll receive a refund to your original payment method. For phishing reports, Amazon investigates and takes down fraudulent messages but won't send you individual updates on those investigations.

Frequently asked questions

What is Amazon's A-to-Z Guarantee?

The A-to-Z Guarantee protects you when you buy from third-party sellers on Amazon. If your item doesn't arrive, arrives damaged, or is significantly different from the listing, you can file a claim and Amazon may issue a full refund.

How do I report a fake Amazon email or text?

Forward the suspicious email to stop-spoofing@amazon.com. For suspicious text messages, you can report them through Amazon's Message Center. Never click links in messages you aren't sure about. Instead, go directly to amazon.com and log in there.

Can I get a refund for a gift card scam?

If someone tricked you into buying Amazon gift cards and sharing the codes, contact Amazon customer service immediately. Amazon may be able to freeze the gift card balance if it hasn't been spent yet, but recovery is not guaranteed once the funds are used.
