Report to Airbnb

The short answer
Report fake Airbnb listings, phishing sites and off-platform payment requests
Airbnb scams almost always start with a reason to leave the platform. A better price if you pay directly, a booking that must be completed by bank transfer. Airbnb takes listing reports, message reports and fake websites through three separate routes.
What they handle
- Listings for property that does not exist or is not the host's
- Hosts asking you to pay or message outside Airbnb
- Fake Airbnb emails, texts, calls and websites
- Hosts and guests behaving inappropriately
How to file a report
- 1
Report the listing
Open the listing, go to the pricing details section, select "Report this listing", pick a reason, add detail if asked, and submit.
- 2
Report a fake website
If you find a page built to look like Airbnb, submit its URL at airbnb.com/report-phishing.
- 3
Never pay off the platform
Airbnb says to stay on it for booking, messaging and payment. A request for wire transfer, cryptocurrency or gift cards is a sign of a scam.
- 4
Contact support immediately if you already paid off-site
Airbnb asks people who paid for a booking off the platform to contact customer support right away.
What you'll need
- The listing URL and the host's name
- Screenshots of the messages
- The payment method, amount and date
What to expect
A listing report is reviewed and the listing removed if it breaks the rules. A payment made outside Airbnb has no cover from AirCover, so recovery runs through your bank.
Frequently asked questions
How do I spot a fake Airbnb website?
Read the address carefully. Airbnb says that if Airbnb is misspelled in the web address, the site is fake. Lookalike domains are the whole trick.
